RE: The tariff classification of Melphalan Hydrochloride (CAS 3223-07-2) in bulk form, from Italy
Dear Mr. Forstenzer:
In your letter dated October 7, 2015, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The subject product, Melphalan Hydrochloride, is an alkylating antineoplastic agent. It is indicated for the treatment of multiple myeloma.
The applicable subheading for the Melphalan Hydrochloride in bulk form, will be 2922.49.2600, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Amino-acids, other than those containing more than one kind of oxygen function, and their esters, salts thereof: Other: Aromatic: Other: Drugs.” Pursuant to General Note 13, HTSUS, the rate of duty will be free.
